SolarEMR

Infrastructure with a touch of SOLTECH

Demonstration of automated manufacturing and integration of custom PV modules in long-haul infrastructure

SolarEMR is a forward-thinking project that envisions a future where custom solar cell integration is not only technically but also economically feasible.
By addressing challenges in automated manufacturing, integration, rapid deployment and economic models, the project aims to accelerate the energy transition in the built environment and infrastructure to ensure a cleaner and more sustainable future.

Solar energy as a regional need

The main goal of the SolarEMR project is to accelerate the energy transition in the built environment and near long-distance infrastructure.
The project partners will do so by demonstrating automated production and integration of power electronics (PE) and by demonstrating rapid implementation.
The project strategically aligns with regional needs, adheres to European legislation and focuses on public acceptance of integrated building components and large-scale infrastructure applications.

SolarEMR

SolarEMR is a follow-up project to Rolling Solar (Interreg EMR) in which we developed and evaluated the integration of long strips (>1m) of silicon and thin film PV solar panels into infrastructure elements.
SolarEMR extends the Rolling Solar project by demonstrating automated mass production of customized silicon and thin film IPV and optimized electrical grid coupling for local energy use.
In addition, we directly support SMEs by examining economic models and legislative aspects and identifying opportunities and obstacles.

In this SolarEMR project, the focus is on the design process, taking into account all manufacturing steps up to final integration into infrastructure and building elements and also taking into account on-site placement in a realistic full-scale demonstrator.

GOALS

Soltech’s main objectives in this project are:

Automated production and integration

  • Scaling up successful technologies from previous Interreg projects, particularly Rolling Solar.
  • Demonstrating the cost-effective automated production of custom PV modules.
  • Demonstrate the seamless integration of these components into infrastructure elements (noise barriers).

Rapid deployment

  • Emphasize the feasibility of strategies for rapid installation of solar panels in real-life, full-scale scenarios.
  • Highlight placement considerations on site, considering realistic conditions in an extended demonstrator.

INTERREG

The SolarEMR project is implemented within the framework of the Interreg program Euregio Meuse Rhine(interregemr.eu).
It is funded through the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), and also financially supported by the provinces of North Brabant (NL), Flemish Brabant and Limburg and Liège (B), and by the Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Policy.

Your Project Charged with Energy

Whatever your project, Soltech puts it full of energy.
Stand alone or connected to the grid.
With "a touch of SOLTECH," your project too will be a sustainable reference of its kind in no time.
